Pond Shares Latest Single "Through the Heather," Teasing Forthcoming Album 'Terrestrials'

Western Australian psych-rock outfit Pond is back with their latest single, "Through the Heather," offering fans a fresh taste of their highly anticipated 11th studio album, 'Terrestrials', slated for release on June 19.

Released via their newly minted independent label, Mangovision (through Secretly Distribution), Terrestrials serves as the follow-up to their acclaimed 2024 double album, Stung!.

Interestingly, this beautiful, melancholic, and atmospheric track was born in a setting that was anything but glamorous. Frontman Nick Allbrook revealed that the initial idea for "Through the Heather" came to life while the band was grinding through a European tour last year.

"Sometimes rock and roll is glamorous, and often it isn't," Allbrook joked. "It’s very funny to me that this beautiful, melancholy, searching song was made in a van full of crisp packets and trackpants amongst a bunch of dirty people."

The recording process later continued at a home studio in Seabird, overlooking the Indian Ocean. There, they experimented with making thunder sounds out of spring reverbs while relaxing and watching TV. The instrumental foundation was initially crafted by drummer James Ireland before being fully fleshed out with co-founder Jay Watson.
