Opening a New Chapter: SORE Ze Band Releases "Surya Jelang Menepi" as a Melancholic Tribute
JAKARTA – Coinciding with the commemoration of National Awakening Day on May 20, 2026, the pride of Indonesia's indie pop scene, SORE Ze Band, officially released their latest single titled "Surya Jelang Menepi". This work marks a new milestone for the band, now spearheaded by Awan Garnida and Bemby Gusti, alongside Gilang Pramudya, Aufa Kantadiredja, Luthfi Zamzami and Marvin Muhammad.
More than just a song release, "Surya Jelang Menepi" was born as a profound tribute and prayer for the warm souls who have preceded us to the eternal home. The song feels incredibly personal, serving as a space for the band and their fans (Sorealis) to commemorate the passing of their beloved frontman, the late Ade Paloh, who passed away in March 2024.
Penned by Bemby Gusti and Sergio Karrar, the lyrics recount the pain of losing someone deeply significant. Through its verses, listeners are invited to absorb the warm moments of the past that are now only left on the "bench of memories." Although it is hard to let go, there is an underlying message of sincere acceptance and a great hope that the departed is now resting in a beautiful and peaceful place forever. The accompanying lyric video is also packaged in a deeply melancholic and tranquil tone, perfectly mirroring this profound longing.
Musically, SORE Ze Band presents a rich arrangement while preserving the core of their classic sound.
